The wonder of Naragansett Beach

I had the beautiful opportunity to go to Rhode Island this weekend to have some much needed time with a few friends of mine. They're also missionaries and work at the University of Rhode Island/Coast Guard Academy.

Check out the beauty of that church! I loved the woodwork.

I've never been to Rhode Island before. The first day there I didn't even take a photo of the beach or lighthouse because it was so windy and cloudy, snow and ice blowing everywhere that the photo wouldn't have done it justice.

Sunday though the skies opened up, the snow and ice melted. The wind was as brisk as ever but the beauty couldn't stop me from pulling over after church to snap some photos and say goodbye before coming back to CT.

It reminded me of the small joys we can find each day if we just pay a little attention to our surroundings. I could've let the day go by and not bothered with wondering about the beach but I didn't want to take a restful Sunday for granted. So that meant church time where I spent an hour crying about how much I'm worth and unconditionally loved and then heading to the beach. I was able to listen to the waves crash along the shore and stare at my favorite piece of natural beauty.

Even though it was freezing, Rhode Island captured my heart with it's coastal gray blue houses, stone towers from a time now gone, rocky shores and beautiful beaches. There's no doubt in my mind that I will be back here someday.
